AVG Antivirus Review

AVG offers a comprehensive feature set and a near-perfect malware detection score. It also includes one of the best firewalls I’ve tested, a reliable web and email scanner, and powerful device optimization tools. However, it lacks parental controls and reliable ransomware security. It can also slow down the performance of computers, especially ones with less power.

The free version of AVG includes basic malware protection, but doesn’t include firewall or web scanners. The basic plan comes with more robust set of features while premium plans include useful extras such as a system tune-up and VPN.

The mobile applications of AVG offer exclusive features that are not available in the desktop version. For instance, the Android application allows you to remotely erase and lock your phone in the event that it gets lost. It also provides an image vault that lets you store all your private photos and videos safely. It also comes with a great anti-theft feature that lets you track the location of your phone and sound an alarm.

The user-friendly interface of AVG uses familiar thumbnails and headings to assist you in navigating its many features. In the settings menu, you can adjust the scan sensitivity, and also add or remove formats from the scan. You can also enable advanced options, such as shredding and deep scanning after they’ve been scan. You can also change the popup notifications, configure which data is shared with AVG, and enable «do-not-disturb» mode for full screen gaming or watching videos.
